Immigrant Empowerment Program
Comprehensive support for immigrants navigating healthcare, education, legal processes, and a path to citizenship.
Because everyone deserves a fair start.
Our Commetment
Support that meets you where you are
Brooklyn is home to one of the most diverse immigrant communities in the world — yet many newcomers face overwhelming barriers: language gaps, complex legal systems, unfamiliar healthcare, and schools that may not understand their children’s needs.
Brooklyn Emerge’s Immigrant Empowerment Program was built to bridge every one of those gaps. Whether you arrived last week or have been navigating the system for years, our team is here — with no paperwork, no judgment, and no cost.

What We Provide
Six pillars of support
From your first day in Brooklyn to receiving your citizenship, we walk alongside you at every stage.
Medical Access & Healthcare
We connect immigrants with free and low-cost clinics, help navigate health insurance enrollment, and provide language-supported medical appointments for the whole family.
Education Support
School enrollment assistance, ESL (English as a Second Language) classes, tutoring referrals, and support for children entering the NYC public school system.
Citizenship Application Help
Step-by-step guidance through the naturalization process, application review, interview preparation, and referrals to pro-bono immigration attorneys.
Family Petition Assistance
We help eligible residents petition for family members abroad, preparing documentation, translating records, and connecting families with legal advocates.
Asylum Support
Dedicated case management for asylum seekers — from initial filing to court preparation, trauma-informed support services, and emergency housing referrals.
Wrap-Around Services
Emergency food assistance, utility help, job readiness workshops, know-your-rights trainings, and connection to a wider network of Brooklyn nonprofits.
Who We Serve
Our neighbors, our community
The program is open to all immigrants — no documentation, background check, or referral required. We especially serve:
- Newly arrived immigrants and refugees
- Asylum seekers awaiting case decisions
- Families separated by the immigration system
- Long-term residents seeking naturalization
- Children needing school enrollment support
- Individuals without access to healthcare
"Every person who walks through our doors carries a story of courage. Our job is to make sure that courage is rewarded with real opportunity."
