Youth Empowerment & Leadership Initiative
Building Brooklyn’s next generation of leaders — through sports, education, mentorship, and the belief that every young person deserves a fair shot at the future.
Our Commetment
Every kid in Brooklyn deserves to emerge
Brooklyn’s Flatbush, Kensington, and Midwood neighborhoods are home to children from dozens of countries, languages, and backgrounds. Many come from low-income immigrant and refugee families. Many lack access to safe after-school spaces, quality mentorship, or structured activities that build character and confidence.
Brooklyn Emerge’s Youth Empowerment & Leadership Initiative was built to change that. From pickup basketball in the park to homeschooling classes, leadership workshops to back-to-school drives — we give Brooklyn’s young people the tools, community, and inspiration to rise.
Sports as a pathway to leadership
We believe in the transformative power of sport. Playing together builds discipline, teamwork, respect, and confidence — skills that transfer directly to the classroom, the workplace, and life. Through our Community Play Initiative and partnership with @brooklynyouthclub, we bring free structured athletic activities to Brooklyn’s kids every week.
Soccer
Free play and organized matches at local parks and fields. One of the most popular activities among our immigrant youth community.
Basketball
Open-court games, drills, and skills development for boys and girls of all levels. Builds teamwork and discipline.
Track & fitness
Running, fitness circuits, and healthy lifestyle education. Builds stamina, mental toughness, and healthy habits.
Community play days
Multi-sport weekend events featuring team games, relays, and activities for younger children. Families are welcome.
Beyond sports
.Four pillars of youth development
Sports is the gateway — but youth empowerment goes much further. Our program weaves together four pillars to ensure every young person grows in every dimension of their life.
Education & homework help
After-school homework assistance, tutoring, and full-time homeschooling classes for boys and girls of all ages.
Leadership & advocacy
Workshops on civic engagement, public speaking, community service, and advocacy skills. We train tomorrow's Brooklyn leaders today.
Career grooming
Resume workshops, mentorship, and internship pathways for older youth preparing to enter school and the workforce.
Social & emotional growth
A safe, welcoming environment where every child — regardless of background — feels seen, valued, and part of something bigger.
